Jake Muir , Evan Caminiti : Talisman

Talisman is a collaboration between Jake Muir and Evan Caminiti, blending elements of doom metal, avant-jazz, and experimental music. The album features beatless shimmers that push back on contemporary ambient logic.

Caminiti handles electric guitar while Muir works as a sonic alchemist, grinding Caminiti’s takes into dust and subliming each note into a thick, vaporous haze. The record is evocative of the burning Californian landscape, with both artists producing a sound that’s antagonistic but not annoyingly confrontational or exhaustingly conceptual.

The album is intended to be played in a single sitting and is a chance to escape into another universe for a while, with elements of contemporary death metal bands incorporated into its lavish sigils.
